- Dinner serving at Ammas
- July 21st, 2010
Karma yoga is big at Ammas... Though we do karma yoga daily in our lives - from chatting to a friend who is down to writing blogs :)
Serving food is the best karma yoga, the gesture of giving, the sharing... I wanted to serve salads - was I put there? Nope... Serving brown rice (in the second line!) was my thing... Problem with it? It was next to a lady who was serving cool mexican spicey rice, so 1 out of 25 customers felt like brown rice... Plus that woman had the biggest mouth on the line, advertising her rice and passing 'down' the customers... My leo's ego felt bruised... Also, my early childhood was spent like this - I was not allowed to go to kindergarden that much, so had to communicate with adults who came to visit my mom... Was bored and felt very in shadow of my mom... Though that made me freaking try to impress kids when I went to kindergarden once in 3 weeks - I was the first kid who brought money to show those funny paper adults care about, came up with avoiding sleeping by passing a wink down the line of beds, etc...
So, after some time accepting the brown rice placement, I made my move by saying the lady can probably handle both rices, and went to serve delicious chips... It was not salad, was dry and not cooked, but was good enough... A girl next to me was serving salad... Pretty soon I noticed she started saying her hand is too tired from passing heavy plates (salad is at the end of food line), of course I suggested we can switch as placing a few light chips on the plate is different.
When I suggested I didn't care if I served salad any more... So, of course, we have switched. Now I was serving salad feeling peaceful about doing or not doing it... Aaah, Universe's rules :)
So after some time new people came to replace us tired and hungry, we had lunch ourselves and having free time I came back to serve - now I didn't care what to do and could do anything, I had my salad wish fulfilled... At the end most of the people got tired, 2 of us stayed - and we didn't have a long queue - so I was serving chips, salad, sour cream and cheese (feel taco day?) moving from container to container...
let it all go... enjoy... the wish will get fulfilled when it's time - this or next life time or will get modified to smth better for you... but also act as if it's already fulfilled, will free you up... my new mantra...
